San Diego Coastkeeper monitors the actions of elected officials to hold them accountable for their votes on environmental issues. Though reports such as its annual San Diego City Clean Water Report Card, Coastkeeper shines a public spotlight on the voting record of political representatives. Coastkeeper sorts rhetoric from reality, allowing citizens to make good ballot decisions in support of those public officials who represent their concerns about protection of our environmental resources.

Coastkeeper also partners with political advocacy groups such as The League of Conservation Voters, The California League of Conservation Voters and Vote the Coast to monitor voting records on the local, state, and federal level throughout California and create awareness among the voting public.

On October 18, 2006 - the 34th anniversary of the Clean Water Act - Coastkeeper issued its 2006 San Diego City Clean Water Report Card, authored by Strategic Community Consulting.
